Verdict of guilty – Sentence twenty years penal servitude the first three in irons.

In the thirty second year of the reign of our sovereign lady Victoria by the grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith.
Queensland, Maryborough to wit
BE IT REMEMBERED that John MacKenzie Shaw whom in the absence of Her Majesty’s attorney General for the colony of Queensland and Esquire, Barrister-at-law, by virtue of an appointment duly made to him for such purpose, prosecutes for Her Majesty in this behalf, being present in the Circuit Court at Maryborough now her, on the twenty eighth dy of September in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty eight, at Maryborough in the Colony aforesaid, informs the said court that William Troden and Joseph Blake on the 30th day of July, 1868, near Imbil, being then armed with certain offensive weapons and instruments to win one gun and one revolver in and upon one Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill feloniously did make an assault and their? and? each of the aforesaid Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill in bodily fear and danger of their lives, then feloniously did put and the moneys of the said Edwin Redman to the account of one pound six shillings the moneys of the said Robert Crothers to the account of Ten pounds the moneys of the said John Crothers to the account of the said John Crothers to the amount of one pound twelve shillings and sixpence and the moneys of the said Thomas Gill to the amount of Three pounds six shillings from the person in the presence and against the will of each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill respectively then feloniously and violently did steal, take away and carry away.

And further than William Troden and Joseph Blake on the day and year aforesaid near Imbil aforesaid in and upon Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill feloniously did make and assault and them and each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill in bodily fear and danger of their lives then felioniously did put and the moneys of the said Edwin Redman to the amount of one pound six shillings the moneys of the said Robert Crothers to the amount of Ten pounds the moneys of the said John Crothers to the amount of One pound twelve shillings and sixpence and the moneys of the said Thomas Gill to the amount of Three pounds six shillings did together then feloniously and violently steal and carry away.

And further that William Troden and Joseph Blake on the day and year last aforesaid near Imbil aforesaid in and upon Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill feloniously did make an assault and them and each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill in bodily fear and danger of their lives then feloniously did put and the moneys of the said Edwin Redman to the amount of one pound six shillings the moneys of the said Robert Crothers to the amount of one pound twelve shillings and sixpence and the moneys of the said Thomas Gill to the amount of Three pounds six shillings from the person in the presence and against the will of each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill respectively then feloniously and violently did seal take and carry away. And that the said William Troden and Joseph Blake at the time they so robbed the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill as aforesaid did feloniously beat and strike and use other personal violence to each of the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill.

And further that William Troden and Joseph Blake on the day and year last aforesaid near Imbil aforesaid in and upon Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill feloniously did make and assault and there and each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill in bodily fear and danger of their lives there feloniously did put and the moneys of the said Edwin Redman to the amount of one pound six shillings the moneys of the said Robert Crothers to the amount of ten pounds the moneys of the said John Crothers to the amount of one pound twelve shillings and sixpence and the moneys of the said Thomas Gill to the amount of three pounds six shillings from the person in the presence and against the will of each of the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill respectively then felioniously and violently did steal and take and carry away. And that the said William Troden and Joseph Blake immediately before they so robbed the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill as aforesaid feloniously beat and strike and did use other personal violence to each of the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill.

And further that William Troden and Joseph Blake on the day and year last aforesaid near Imbil aforesaid in and upon Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill feloniously did make and assault and their and each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill in bodily fear and danger of their lives their feloniously did put and the moneys of the said Edwin Redman to the amount of one pound six shillings the moneys of the said Robert Crothers to the amount of Ten pounds the moneys of the said John Crothers to the amount of one pound twelve shillings and sixpence and the moneys of the said Thomas Gill to the amount of three pounds six shillings from the person in the presence and against the will of each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill respectively then feloniously and violently did steal take and carry and that the said William Troden and Joseph Blake immediately after they so robbed the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill as aforesaid feloniously did beat and strike and use other personal violence to each of them the said Edwin Redman, Robert Crothers, John Crothers and Thomas Gill.
