STAFFORD SPRINGS
Stanley B. Symonds, 80, the youngest son of the late William and Sarah Symonds, died Friday, (June 9, 2000).
He was a lifelong resident of Stafford.
Stanley served in the Pacific area during World War II, where he met and married his wife, Thelma.
Stanley was foreman of the carpenter shop at Mansfield State Training School for 35 years at the time of his retirement.
He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Stafford Springs, serving as trustee chairperson, and Men's Club president for many years.
He also served as highway commissioner for the Borough of Stafford Springs at the time of Consolidation of the Town and Borough governments.
Stanley is survived by his wife Thelma, after 56 wonderful years; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Peg Symonds; and a brother, William and his wife Helen, all of Stafford Springs; a brother, John and wife Doris; and a sister, Barbara and husband Lesster Gauvain, all of Nokomis, FL, there are also many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives in this country and in Australia.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hour Monday, 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, followed by a funeral service to be held Monday, 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 8 Church St., Stafford Springs, with the Rev. Sharon Miesel officiating.
Burial will follow in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066 or The Leap of Faith Capital Fund Drive, 8 Church St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
