William J.T.Coker emigrated to Australia about 1854 and had property in Argyle Street, St Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria.
First three children born in Australia but the family returned to England in June 1858 on the ship, Avon from Melbourne
Information from a church worker of St Dunstans about an entry under Coker/Stonehewer of monies spent on a building project within half a mile of Narrow Street for seaman in 1857. Known as Albert Gardens, the building its U-shaped. There is a note in the record that the "sons took over the building''. Perhaps that's the reason William Coker and family returned to England from Australia. On the 1861 census, William J.T. Coker, ship's chandler, is running the family operation. When living in Melbourne, Australia, William may have been working as a painter/decorator.

Report of death (yet to be confirmed but seems to fit).
    Kentish Mercury Friday 11 May 1883, p5.
SUDDEN DEATH. On Tuesday, Police-sergeant Donald Walters, summoning officer at Greenwich Police-court, proceeded to the office of Mr. F.B.Leeming, accountant of 41, Finsbury-pavement, on business connected with Greenwich County Court proceedings. Whilst there, Mr Frederick Coker, partner with Mr Leeming, entered the office, and asked Walters to accompany him into the inner offce. Whilst there, on taking off his hat and coat, Mr Coker was seized with coughting, and exclaimed, "My God! I've burst a blood vessel; send for a doctor. Thomas Matthews, in charge of the office, ran for Dr Fenwick, who attended immediately, and pronounced Mr. Coker lifeless.
NOTE: There is another account in the London Evening Standard of 12 May 1883 that deals with Frederick Barnard Leeming, 38, accountant, who charged with forging and fraudulently altering a Court of Bankruptcy affidavit. This must have taken place when Frederick Coker passed away as he is also mentioned in the Evening Standard report.

    Notes:

Newpaper report of bigamy case in which Ellen found herself.
    East London Observer 01 August 1903, p6
Singular Story of Alleged Bigamy.-A hatter named Peter Sinnott, aged 53 living at Vincent-street, Shoreditch, was charged at Worship-street Police-court on Thursday with contracting a bigamous marriage with Ellen Jessie Coghill*, his lawful wife being still alive. The second wife, a pale and delicate-looking woman, who carried a baby, said she lived with prisoner for six months. At the end of that period she informed him of her condition, and they went through a form of marriage together at St Andrew's Church, Lambeth, on July 6, 1900. He told her he had never been married before. Witness added that the previous night prisoner's son, who was an entire stranger to her, came to the house while his father was out and told her that prisoner's first wife was living. He showed her the certificiate of marriage, and when prisoner came home she taxed him with having committed bigamy. Prisoner replied, "Yes, I have been married before. My wife is living at Plaistow." Witness broke down during the recital of her evidence and sobbed bittlerly. Prisoner, who was committed for trial, said he was guilty of the charge, but his second wife was innocent of it altogether.

    Notes:

Florence had a male child Francis born 5 Jan 1881 and died 3 Feb 1881 in Qld.
Florence married Albert Card 6-4-1882 and moved to Perth at some point after 1882 as son Harold was born in NSW.
There is a postcard dated 1902 from W.F.Card with an image of who must be a Card relative because an image Harold Card taken around 1914 bears a striking resemblance to the man in the 1902 postcard. So perhaps W.F.Card is the person in the image and may be a cousin or uncle to Harold.
The card reads: To dear Lily from her affectionate Boy W.F.Card 28.11.1902 May you spend a very bright and happy Xmas. (Note, this doesn't really help because we don't know who Lily us)
There also exists another postcard which shows St Martins Le Grand (London) addressed to Master Harold G.B.Card John Street North Perth Western Australia. It reads: Am surprised no letter from you. Arrived here on Monday last; received baptism of London fog on Tuesday. Wish you all Merry Xmas & Happy New Year. Keep Cool. Write. Dad.*
Albert Card left his wife and son in Australia and went back to England. They divorced some time later.

    A SHOCKING TRAGEDY. (1918, June 29). The Capricornian (Rockhampton, Qld : 1875 - 1929), p. 27. Retrieved February 6, 2012, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article69720790
A man named Leonard Coker, who has for some years been in the service of the Railway Department, lost his life in a tragic manner shortly after six o'clock on Saturday evening, his head being almost severed from his body while he was in the ash pit underneath an engine.
Mr. Coker and a fireman named Walter Ashton took over the engine of the southern mail train for the purpose of coaling it and removing the ashes before shunting it to the shed.
Mr. Coker, with a torch and a spanner, entered the pit to examine the engine after it had been shunted just over him, and, according to Mr Ashton, who was on the board, gave a sharp whistle and moved the engine 18 in. or 2 ft.
Instantly he heard a sound as of groaning, and, jumping off the engine, was horrified to find Mr. Coker kneeling in the pit with his head practically cut off and resting over the left shoulder on the edge of the pit near the rail.
There was blood inside the rail and on the ledge, suggesting that Mr. Coker had put his head out between the wheels when he was caught by one of the wheels, which, passing over his neck, cut it through from under the chin.
There was no need, it is stated, for Mr. Coker to look out to examine any part of the engine on the outside, and the only conclusion to be come to is that he thought his companion had not heard his call to him to shift the engine and put his head out to repeat the call.
Those in authority were at once apprised and Mr Coker's body was removed.
The deceased left a wife and family.
His funeral will take place at half-past eleven o'clock this forenoon.
