Newspaper reports gives details of an emergency call which an operator dismissed as a hoax that a woman had been bashed, robbed and left tied to her bed at home. Mrs Joy Goleby Alchin's body was found, 10 days later on 19 January 2001. Three men were charged and later convicted over her death.

January 19, 2001, late of Greenwell Point, formerly of St Marys, wife of Lindsay, loved mother and mother-in-law of Joanne and Trevor, loved Nan of Gemmalee, Luke and Rebecca, loved sister of Gordon (deceased), Margaret, Cheryl, Marie, Alan and Kevin and families. Aged 70 years.
Joy's funeral will be held at Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens Chape, Worrigee via Nowra Tuesday (January 30, 2001) with service commencing at 11 am.
