Death: Much sympathy is felt for Mr Fred Hammond, of 23 College St, whose wife, Mrs Annie Hammond, passed away on Thursday last, aged 41 years. The funeral took place at the Borough Cemetery on Monday, the Rev. R.E.Bruce officiating. The chief mourners were Mr. F.Hammond (widower), Mr Fred Orriss, Chevington (father), Mrs. Kellas (sister), Mrs Bridge, Chevington (sister), Messrs. Albert and Arthur Orriss (brothers), Mr Ned Bridge, Chevington and Mr. Kellas, Hospital Road and Mr Harry Hammond, Chalk Lane (brothers-in-law), Mrs W.Hammond, Hatter Street (sister-in-law), Mr and Mrs. Bugg, Callum Road, and Mr. and Mrs. S.Pettit, Chevington (cousins).
Floral tributes were sent form her broken-hearted husband Fred: from Colin and Carrie, Ned and Alice and niece Annie (Chevington); Fred and Maude (Canada); her little nieces and nephews (Depden); Albert and Flo (Depden), Louie, Bill and the children (7, Hatter Street); Herbert and Flo (cousins); from Bessie, Harry and Mabel; from Mr. and Mrs. O.Childs and family; from Mrs. Thompson; from Mrs. Dutton; from Mr. and Mrs. Howlett and Mrs Glover; from Mr. and Mrs Tom Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chissell; Harry; nieces Vera and Shiela; Mr and Mrs. Steel and Peter and all at Great Green, Cockfield; the District Nurses (Nurses Butcher, Williams and Baxter); Mrs. Keble White (Chevington); and from a friend.
