- Bury Free Press 03 April 1943. CHEVINGTON. Funeral of Mr C.Nunn - The death occurred Thursday at Moat House, Hargrave, the residence of his sister, of Mr. Charles Nunn, formerly of Chevington. Mr Nunn had lived for many years in London and left or resided at Hargrave, following the "blitz". He had been ill for about a year. When residing in Chevington he was treasurer for both cricket and football clubs and helped in many ways with the village sporting events. He was held in high esteem and sympathy with the family has been widespread. The funeral took place at All Saints' Church, Chevington, on Tuesday afternoon the Rev. A.K.Shrewsbury officiating. The chief mourners were: Mrs Handley, Mrs Pettit, Mrs. Leslie Cox (sisters), Mr G.Nunn (brother), Miss E.Sangster (fiancee), Mr Handley and Mrs Cox (brothers-in-law), Mrs G.Nunn (sister-in-law), Mrs. Pitt (cousin), Miss Rolfe, Miss P.Nunn, Mr and Mrs Girling , Mrs Waspe , Mrs R.Nunn, Mr and Mrs E.Rolfe, Mr and Mrs. A.Rolfe, Miss R.Leslie (nephews and nieces). Mr J.Nunn (brother Stowmarket) was unable to attend owing to an indisposition. The floral tributes were: In loving memory, from Hannah and George. With all my love and very happy memories, Eva.
