FUNERAL OF MRS. J.NUNN. - Regret was felt and expressed on all sides throughout the village and district on Saturday, when the sad news became known that the death had taken place the previous evening of Mrs. J.Nunn, of Rectory Cottage, following a comparatively short illness of influenza and pneumonia. Of a thoughtful and kindly disposition, she had many friends, and most events in the village found in her a ready supporter. She had been a member of the Mothers' Union for many years. Mrs. Nunn, who was the sixth daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Nunn, of Chevington, was predeceased by her husband several years ago, and leaves a family of one daughter and two sons, the younger son being well known as a football player for Bury Town. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon at the parish church. The cortege was preceded by members of the Mothers' Union. The service was feelingly conducted by the Rector (the Rev. E.Gaunt) and the hymn, "Abide with me," was sung. The family mourners were: Miss Phyllis Nunn (daughter). Mr Fred Nunn and Mr Bob Nunn (brothers), Mrs. Handley, Mrs. (Sarah) Plummer, Mrs. (Georgina) Pettitt, Mrs. (Rose) Leslie and Mrs. (Alice) Cox (sisters), Mr. C.Nunn, Mr E.Rolfe and Mr.A.Rolfe (nephews), Miss M.Rolfe (niece), Mr A.Pettitt (brother-in-law), Mrs. G. Nunn, Miss K.Nunn, and Mrs H.Newman (sisters-in-law), Mrs A.Pitt (cousin), Mrs. Sangster, Miss E.Sangster, Miss F.Cocksedge, Miss N.Burling, Mrs. A. Newman, Mr W.Underwood and Mrs. Spurling. Two brothers were unavoidably absent. The respect in which the late Mrs. Nunn was held was evidenced by the number attending the service; these included, in addition to members of the Mothers' Union, Mrs. W.Blake, Miss Stanford (Bury St Edmund's), Mrs. J.Clarke, Mrs. C.Clarke, Mrs T.Clarke and Mrs Cockley (Rede), Miss B.Orriss (Whepstead), Mrs. Grimwood (Whepstead), Mrs.G.Copping, Miss Brinkley (Chevington) and others. The coffin bore brass furniture and a breastplate inscribed: "Julia Nunn, died 3rd February, 1933, aged 60 years." The large number of choice floral tributes bore the following inscriptions: With all our love and gratefullness for the care which has been bestowed upon us; our dear mother; Phyllis, Fred and Bob. With sincere sympathy of our dear sister, from Jim and Polly (Finchley). In fond remembrance of dear Julia, our beloved sister, Hannah and George (Paddington).
