    • THE immigrants by the R.M.S. Roma arrived at the depot yesterday morning about eight o'clock, having left the steamer in the Mabel soon after 3 a.m.
The number is 51, comprising 6 married couples, 17 single males, 10 single females, and 12 children.
The whole party appeared thoroughly healthy, as were, we understand, all on board.
There were five deaths during the voyage-all infants-and two births. Dr. Macan was the Surgeon-Superintendent and Mrs. Burke the matron.
We have not heard of any complaints, beyond one or two trivialities from some of the young men. One of them appeared to be specially aggrieved that they had been prevented from holding converse with any of the single women during the voyage. These will, how-ever, find few sympathisers.
At least one family of five-all useful colonists -has come out to Rockhampton as the result of direct communication with
      Alderman Allen.
There was but little hiring done yesterday. One single woman found an engagement at 14s. per week. There were a few inquiries for single men, but the majority of those suitable were not at the depot when wanted.
