    SONS ACT AS BEARERS
    At Their Father's Funeral.
    The Late Mr. A.Orriss, of Chevington
    When the funeral took place, at Chevington, on Friday, of Mr Arthur Orriss, his six sons, in accordance with one of the last wishes of their father, acted as bearers.
    Mr. Orriss, who died at his home, Brooke's Corner, on the previous Tuesday after a painful illness lasting some months, was 53 years of age.
    Third son of Mr. Fred Orriss, he was a native of Depden, but had lived in Chevington for a number of years.
    Better known as "Klipper," he was popular and respected over a wide area, where he travelled in charge of threshing machinery for the late Mr. John Sangster and Mrs Stephens.
    He leaves a widow, six sons and two daughters to mourn their loss.
    At the funeral, the Rev. E.Gaunt, of Chedburgh, officiated, the Rev. A.K. Shewsbury also being present.
    One hymn, "The King of Love, my Shepherd is," was sung.
    Deceased's son, who acted as bearers, were: Messrs. Reg*., Frank, Alfred, Arthur, Fred and Stanley Orriss. The other mourners were: Mrs. A.Orriss (widow), Miss Violet Orriss (daughter), Mr and Mrs Colin Kellas (brother-in-law and sister), Mrs Alf. and Mrs F.Orriss (daughters-in-law), Mrs. Albert Orriss (sister-in-law), Mr Ned Bridge (brother-in-law), Messrs. J. and R.Orriss and Mrs G.Dodson (nephews and nice), Miss Cook, Miss Cross, Mr. and Mrs. S.Pettit, Mr. and Mrs. H.Clarry, Mr. Stephens (employer), Mr. and Mrs. F.Wallace, sen., Mr and Mrs. F.Wallace, jun., Mrs. Mingay, Mrs and Miss Howe, Mrs Green, Mrs. Frost, Mr. H.Clarke, Mrs. A.     Another daughter, Miss Joan Orriss, was unable to be present.
    *Note: Reg was his stepson, aged 4 according to 1911 census which also shows Arthur and Elizabeth had been married two years with two living children. On 1921 census, Reg is noted as his stepson.

    CHEVINGTON
    The village lost one of its oldest inhabitants when Mr Frederick James Orriss passed away at his home on December 8th, aged 82 years. He was a native of Depden, but had lived for a considerable number of years in the house where he died. The funeral took place at the parish church on Saturday, with the Rev. A.K.Shrewsbury officiating. The mourners were Mrs Colin Kellas (daughter), Mrs Albert Orriss and Mrs Arthur Orriss (daughters-in-law), Mr C.Bridge and Mrs Colin Kellas (sons-in-law), Mrs G.Dodson and Messrs Frank, Alfred, Arthur and Stanley Orriss (grand-children), Mrs S.Pettit (niece), Mrs Alfred Orriss, Mrs Frederick Orriss, Miss Cook, Mrs A.Copping, Mrs Souter, Mrs F.Avis, Mr and Mrs M.Stanford, Mrs S.Smith, Mrs S.Pettit, Mr H.Clark and Miss R.Pettit. Floral tributes were: To our dear father, with live from Carrie, Colin and the girls, Hospital Road. To dear dad, in loving memory, from Maude, Fred and family, Canada.
