Chevington: The Funeral of the late Mr. Harry Nunn, whose death occurred in the Bury and West Suffolk General Hospital the previous Monday, took place at the parish church of All Saints on Friday afternoon. Mr. Nunn, who was 66 years of age, had resided in the village for several years.
About a month ago, acting under medical advice, he entered the hospital, where he underwent an operation, and had been making progress until Monday, January 4th, when he suddenly expired.
Much sympathy is felt for the widow, son and daughter in their bereavement, especially as Mrs. Nunn is unfortunately afflicted with blindness. The Rev. A.H.Payne, of Rede, conducted the funeral service. at which the principal mourners were Mrs. Nunn (widow), Mr. Joe Nunn (son), Miss Lily Nunn (daughter), Master G.Nunn (grandson), Mrs J.Nunn (daughter-in-law), Mr and Mrs Mortlock (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mr. W.Mortlock (nephew), Mrs. S.Smith (niece), Mr. C.Howes, Mrs. E.Hart and Mrs. M.Cross. Several sympathising neighbours were present, including Mrs. A.Orriss, Mrs. W.Norman, Mrs. G.Nunn, Mrs. Copping, Mrs. F.Avis and Mrs.Sharpe.
The coffin bore a breastplate inscribed: "Harry Nunn, died January 4th, 1926, aged 66 years." The choice floral tributes were inscribed: In loving remembrance of my dearly beloved husband, from his broken-hearted wife, with tenderest memories of my dearest daddy, from his loving daughter Lily and C.Howes, in ever-loving memory of our dear
dad, from his son and daughter, Joe and Julia. To our dear granddad from Georgie, Alice, Lily, Queenie, Harry and Willie. With deepest sympathy, form Julia and family. With deepest sympathy, form Mrs. Howes and family (Fornham). With kindest sympathy, Mrs.Orriss.
