    Notes:

Appears from the birth of his estranged wife's daughter Mina Jardine Duthie Campbell (or Silver), they did not cohabit as husband and wife from about 1881 which suggests that were together for about 12 months only. By 1901, they are together again and had another child (Jessie) in 1896.

Josephine SILVER* Daughter / Scholar 10 Female born : Aberdeen
Jessie A SILVER Daughter / Scholar 4 Female born : Aberdeen
*No known birth for a Josephine Silver C1891 but Jane Campbell did have a baby named Mina Jardine Duthie CAMPBELL or SILVER on 25 Apr 1890 and the birth cert states Alexander Silver was NOT the father.
So, working premise is that Mina becomes Josephine Silver and is assumed as Alex's child for purposes of the census/respectability. Between 1890 and 1895, the couple seem to have reunited given the birth of Jessie in 1896.

    Died:
1909 deaths in the district of St Nicholas in the Burgh of Aberdeen

*should be 50 and mother's maiden name should be Garden
NOTE: There is conflicting information in this death record including his age and mother's married name. However, on balance, this appears to be the correct Alexander Silver based on his wife's name and daughter's name.

Alexander married Jane CAMPBELL on 20 Mar 1880 in Balnagubs, Kincardineshire, Scotland, UK. Jane was born on 31 May 1863 in Aberlour, Banff, Scotland, UK; died on 9 Feb 1937 in 10 Tullos Circle, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Jane CAMPBELL was born on 31 May 1863 in Aberlour, Banff, Scotland, UK; died on 9 Feb 1937 in 10 Tullos Circle, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Census: 1881, Balnagubs, Fetteresso, Kincardine, Scotland, UK
    • Census: 1891, 8 Shiprow, St Nicholas, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK
    • Census: 1901, 51 Ashvale Place, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK
    • Census: 1911, 169 1/2 Gallowgate, Greyfriars, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK

    Notes:

In 1890, she gave birth to a daughter named Mina Jardine Duthie Campbell (or Silver). With regard to paternity, the certificate states: Jane Campbell, wife of Alexander Silver, farm servant, who she declares is not the father of the child and further that she has had no personal communication with him since they ceased to reside together about 9 years ago. By 1901, Jane and Alex are reunited and have another daughter, Jessie, in 1896. Mina is not on 1901 census with family but there is a Josephine Silver of same age who seems to be Mina. Then we find Mina marrying in 1908 and giving her parents as Alex and Jane. Conclusion is that Mina and Josephine are same people.
