The informant on Tom's death certificate was Elizabeth Gertrude Allan with whom Tom co-habited for a number of years. Gertrude had a son named Vincent born 27 July 1915, died about 1995. Vincent took the Aldridge surname and considered Tom as his father. In 2015, Vincent Aldridge's widow Jean gave the foregoing details about Tom and Vincent. She did not know whether there was a formal adoption.

Only April 1945 death in Queensland is for William John Thomas ALDRIDGE, so this is correct person and cemetery record is also found for William John Thomas ALDRIDGE at Lutwyche in 1945. Not yet found in electoral roll and no marriage entry either.

After he remarried in 1888, he proves hard to track with certainty. According to his older half-brother Henry Aldridge, he moved to Western Australia and that is confirmed by electoral roll entries for a William Aldridge, miner, and Louisa Aldridge living in Robert St, Norseman (Dundas Shire). They are found at same address until 1937 and death entries can be found in WA thus:

It seems that William and Elizabeth had another son, Thomas, born around 1861 but no record for him despite being mentioned in Henry Aldridge's memoirs. He obviously was born when they lived in Drayton, Toowoomba. After William died in Australia, Elizabeth married a John Hall with whom she had at least two children: Elizabeth (1865/C001745 Hall Elizabeth daughter of John and Elizabeth Lovett) and William Joseph (1873/C000807 Hall William Joseph son of John Hall and Elizabeth Lovel)

Another confusing piece of information is that when she married, she was unable to write but, four years later when the family arrived in Australia, the entry says she could both read and write.
