    The death occurred on the 14th inst., at his home in Roxborough-rd., Stoke Ferry, of Mr Alfred Owen aged 76 years. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. W.Place (vicar) on the 16th inst.
    The immediate mourners were: Mr J.Briston, brother-in-law; Mrs Owen, sister-in-law; Mr S.Briston, nephew; Mr and Mrs T.Harman, nephew and niece; Mrs J. Grey, niece; Mr Hubert Grey. Others present were Mrs. J.Wilby, Mrs M.Carter, Mr J.P.B.Ward, Mr R.Eaves, Mr Wilby.
    There were many beautiful floral tributes. - The funeral arragements were carried out by Messrs E.G.Eggett and Son, Trafalgar House, Stoke Ferry

    Mrs S.Owen (Wretton)
    The funeral took place at Wretton on Monday of Mrs Sarah Owent, aged 82.
    She had been connected with the parish church for a great number of years, being a member of the church council since its inceptions.
    Her kindness to many will long be remembered.
    The service was conducted by Rev J.C.Paterson Morgan and the lesson was read by Mr Alfred Walker.
    The mourners were: Mr G.Owen and Mrs J.Gray, son and daughter; Mr J.Gray and Mrs G.Owen, son-in-law and daughter-in-law; Mr Chas. Gray, Mr Robin Gray, grandsons; Miss Irene Gray, Mrs Philip Walker, granddaughters; Mr S.Briston, Mr T.Bye (Stow Bridge) nephews; Mrs Taylor (Barton Bendish), Mrs Harman, Mrs Rance, nieces; Mrs S.Briston, Mrs L.Gray, Mr Philip Walker, Mr S.J.Pettit, Mr H.Clark, Miss Rumbold (Barton). The widower was unable to be present.

    In 1830, there was a Thomas Nunn, who was jailed over an incident at Chevington. It could be this Thomas: A report from the Bury and Norwich Post 1830 reads in part: Committed to Bury Gaol: John Evered, Robert Flack, Abraham Hammond and Thomas Nunn (by J. Bejafield, R.Dalton and O.R. Oakes, Esqrs.) charged with having with divers other persons on the 10th inst riotously assembled at the parish of Chevington with intent by force to obtain an increase of wages and to instigate other persons to join them for the illegal destruction of threshing machines.
