Notes: A search of the Trinity House petitions (Guildhall Library Ms 30218A/61) revealed the petition of Edward Lawson of 1829, aged 51 and then residing at 10 George Street, Salmons Lane, Limehouse. This stated that he went to sea in 1791 aged 13, and served for 38 years. It lists the 7 ships on which he sailed with details of his position, and states that he left off the sea in 1829 because of an 'affection of the kidney'. His wife Jane was then aged 49, and they had no children under 12 years old, nor any income from real or personal property.
