18424 | SOCIAL. WEDDING. Fowler-Maxwell. In the Dinmore Methodist Church on Saturday, February 28, Miss Dorothy Gladys Maxwell, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J Maxwell, Taylor-street, Dinmore, and Mr. Raymond Leslie Fowler, eldest son at Mr. and Mrs S. Fowler, Thorn-street, Ipswich, were married by Rev. H. R. Heaton, L.Th. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away. Mr. R. McNell presided at the organ, and Mr. E. Nunn, uncle of the bride, sang "I'll Walk Beside You," during the signing of the register. The bride wore a Swiss voile frock over taffeta, inset with silk lace Insertion. From the hip length bodice, which featured a lace collar and buttons, fell a fully gored trained skirt. Long tight-fitting sleeves formed a point over the hand. For "some- thing old" the bride wore a brooch lent by her aunt. Her embroidered tulle veil, which was lent by her cousin (Mrs. C. Hodkin- son) was worn over the face and was held in place by two water lillies. A bouquet of white and pink roses, intermingled wlth maiden-hair fern, was carried. The bride was attended by Misses Valma Nunn, her cousin, Jean Edwards, a friend, and Gwen Maxwell, her sister. They were frocked alike in white figured organdi, featuring full swing skirt and Peter Pan collars and finished with narrow red velvet bows and sash. Shirred organdi mittens, with points over the hand, were worn. They wore matching picture hats. Each carried a bouquet of red roses intermingled with maiden-hair fern. Mr. D. Fowler, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Friends of the bride decorated the church. The reception was held in St. Matthew's Hall, Dinmore. where about 70 guests were entertatned. The guests were received by the bride's mother, frocked in Jacaranda blue silk, with navy accessories. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore blue floral Grafton silk with match- ing accessories. The beautiful three-tiered cake was made by Mrs. S. Nunn, aunt of the bride, and iced by Mr. Chalk, Bundamba. The decorations were in red and white. The bride's travelling frock was of golden harvest Kent silk, with accessories to tone. The bride was presented with a horseshoe by little Roselyn Nunn. SOCIAL. (1942, March 12). Queensland Times (Ipswich) (Qld. : 1909 - 1954), p. 3 Edition: DAILY.. 18426 | Some ancestry trees have him born in Suffolk 14 Nov 1897 but on 1911 Scotland census he is staying with his grandmother and his birthplace is given as Grenada, West Indies which fits with the fact that his parents were missionaries there. The 1911 census for his parents reveals that George's three siblings were dead. There is only a record for his sister Loveday born and died within hours in Scotland. Presumably the two others passed away in Grenada. In October 1928, his wife Nora and their nine-month old son Ian were on board the ship Ranchi that sailed from London to Bombay. Presumably this was to join George who was stationed in India with the 2nd Lancers. There is a stone in the Westruther Churchyard which reads: "In loving memory of the Rev David SILVER MA for 18 years Parish Minister of Westruther died 30 Nov 1921 and of his wife Georgina died 1941 buried in Edinburgh And their son George James 2nd Lancers Indian Army died 1937 buried in Melton, Suffolk" | SILVER, George James (I8424)

18428 | Some really confusing information in public record about Daisy Aldridge: On 1891 census at 63 Gaulston St, Whitechapel, Daisy is with her grandparents Edward and Elizabeth Aldridge and her birth mother Sarah. She is described thus: Daisy Aldridge, granddaughter, aged 2, born Whitechapel, London On 1901 census she is described as Daisy Aldridge, step daughter, aged 12, born Whitechapel, London, deaf and blind. On 1911 census, after her mother Sarah married James Wright she is described as Daisy ALDRIDGE, daughter, single, aged 21, born 1890 Whitechapel London Mid On 1921 census, she is described as Daisy Wright Step-daughter Female aged 27 years 8 months London, London, England Her stated aged of 27 years 8 months is misleading because of all previous entries that say she was born in 1890. Then, on 1939 register, her date of birth is given as 5 Aug 1890 but, based on 1891 census, she appears to have been born about 1889. Based on death entry, this then is her birth record: Name: Daisy Aldridge Registration Date: 1888 Quarter of the Year: Jul-Aug-Sep Registration Place: Whitechapel, London, England Volume: 1c Page: 311 The 1901 census also shows Daisy was deaf and blind. Her death entry gives her date of birth as 5 Aug 1888. Other online trees have children born to her which most likely those found in the same household on 1921 census. | ALDRIDGE, Daisy (I6442)
